The Power of a Daily Practice
What’s your daily practice? Is there something that you incorporate everyday that blesses your day or that enriches your moment or commits you with aligning to your divinity?
One of my activities that has become a powerful practice is my daily walks. Over the years, it has become a deeply spiritual part of my day. It is where I process things that arise, receive some of my best guidance, feel a deeper connection to the God around me and in me. It helps me to realign and be with myself, even with the profound and ordinary motion of walking.
The movement of the walk really helps me to “move the energy”, and it encourages flow. I tap into the “invisible” world around me and connect to the support surrounding me. I call upon God, my guides, my ancestors, the faeries and dragons and invite them to walk with me.
I have a tree that I visit daily and connect with. It helps me ground all the excess electrical energies and feel the magic of nature. To the other walkers, I might look a little weird or like I am stretching, but I can feel that a beautiful communication is occurring. I just smile as they pass and embrace the odd look with a little internal laugh. Even that has become a practice of being comfortable being me and not caring what others think.
Through the years, it has built up an intuitive “muscle” within me. My walks have become a “tune-in” time. Originally, it was more of an exercise time and not a walking meditation. This changed over time.
As I naturally connected to the beauty of nature, the feeling of the sunlight on my skin, the marvelous hummingbirds zipping around- my awareness of God in all things became more noticeable. Messages began to pop-in and questions presented at the beginning of the walk were being answered or were no longer a question.
I found myself connecting to my heart with more feelings of gratitude, joy, and love. I could feel it radiating from my being and my inner smile shining.
This daily practice has become medicine for my mind, body and soul. It has been built over time and is so unique everyday. Each walk is a new discovery, a new time of learning. Also, every walk is not always filled with recognizable messages and elation.
There are times of entering into silence when the mind is not wanting to be quiet. Other times, I may ask for a message or guidance on something specific, and it is not answered in the direct way I hoped. Sometimes I am told that I already have the answer.
What I am saying is that daily devotion is what builds the connection, the trust, the faith. It teaches me that the support is there even if it was not in the form expected.
A daily practice does not have to be a walk, it can be whatever you choose, and importantly, make it a practice of your own creation. It could be a short 5-6 min morning meditation, blessing the water that you are going to drink that day. It could be tuning into your body and listening, creating a winding down practice that transitions you into calmness. You could even create a daily practice based on themes (like joy) or an inner child connection.
It is all about self-discovery and deepening a connection.
What are you wanting to expand, deepen, or connect with? Start there, get curious as you feel into what you want to explore. It can help to keep the practices short to help them be obtainable. That way you are setting yourself up for success, and you can always extend the time frame as you go. Set yourself some reminders on your phone, or make physical notes to help you remember. I find that this helps when I am wanting to establish a new practice.
You can always change the practice to fit your growth and where you are. I once had an inner child daily practice when I was working with a specific inner child (a part of me that was traumatized at an earlier age). I worked with that precious one daily for about two months and then the practice was no longer needed. I had integrated the lesson.
A daily practice can be a sacred and beautiful way to devote your energy and time to your Mastery. It teaches you about yourself and strengthens your will when you complete the commitment.
Now, I think I am going to go on a walk and tune-in and enjoy my practice.
I send you blessings of Self discovery! I Celebrate you and your daily practice.
